Chapter 15

The Bottle

I’m really bad at horror movies. It stays on my mind and gets traumatized by it for how many days.

But I guess I’m not that coward as Saki and Mika, they were already hiding under the blanket and covering their eyes with it.

They pressed the play button and the movie started…

The title flashed and a blood curdling scream as a sound effect startled me.

It was a girl full of blood.

Blood, my greatest phobia ever…

I just screamed, “AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!”

I immediately covered myself with a pillow. I’m quite okay with ghosts, but please; just don’t let me look at blood.

I kept on peeking and peeking at the huge plasma screen. I was hoping that the movie would end up real fast. Mika and Saki were covering themselves very tightly with a blanket. Hana and Risako were screaming on the top of their lungs. Hana hid with me and Risako’s eyes were still glued on the screen.

After how many minutes, the movie ended. Much to my dismay, it was very bloody. I must do something tonight to erase the horrid graphics on my mind.

We turned on all the lights. Hana and I stood up. We went to Mika and Saki. They were still shivering under the sheets. Hana said, “It’s over, you can stop hiding now…”

They quickly stood up with scared faces painted across them. Mika became paranoid and started to look around places and keep herself safe from the “so-called” monsters.

Risako saw a bottle and said, “Hey! Let’s play spin the bottle!”

I thought to myself, “Mrs. Nakajima is really ready for this.”

Hana started to spin the bottle. I hope it won’t point on me.

The bottle spun slowly. It stopped pointing on… Risako-senpai!

I asked her, “Is it a truth or a dare?”

With quite a troubled expression, Risako-senpai said, “Truth…”

I was grinning devilishly and asked, “Do you like Yabu-senpai?”

Risako-senpai turned red and confessed, “I like him alright?! He’s just too expressive and he’s acting like an idiot.”

We all teased Risako senpai because her confession. We were all squealing like what fangirls do when they see Hey! Say! JUMP.

We spun the bottle again.

It stopped to… Mika-chan.

We let her choose between truth or dare. It was Risako-senpai’s choice as to what dare Mika will do. Her expression seems to tell me that she is plotting revenge.

After thinking, she finally said her dare.

“Okay Mika, go to the boys’ bedroom door and knock. Say out loud the name ‘Ryutaro-cchi’ in a very cute and lovey-dovey manner and run back going here.

Mika’s face looked like it can’t be drawn anymore and said, “Why Ryutaro?”

Risako grinned and said, “You must do it, Mika. You have no choice.”

With a hopeless face, Mika ran towards the boys’ door and did as what Risako told her.

We were peeking to see if Ryutaro-kun heard her. As what we expected, Ryutaro opened the door and checked if who the person who called her was. Seeing nobody was outside the door, Ryutaro closed the door and went inside their room.

Mika was panting very hard because she ran very fast to make sure that Ryutaro doesn’t find out.

We all laughed at Mika and she just pouted her lips at us. She spun the bottle and it pointed to… Saki.

She chose truth. Mika asked her, “If Daiki-kun and Yamada-kun would court you at the same time, who would you choose among them?”

Saki’s eyes enlarged. She exclaimed, “Eeh?! What a hard question is that!”

Hana smiled and said, “Just choose one…”

With a troubled and nervous face, Saki said, “Okay, I-I-I would choose Daiki-kun since I knew him for quite a longer time…”

We all teased Saki while she hid her face with her hands.

Once again, the bottle was spun. It pointed to Hana-chan. Hana chose dare.

It was Saki’s chance to decide on what Hana would do. Since Saki wasn’t that harsh, she asked Hana to sing outside an advance happy birthday song to herself.

Hana then went outside while we watched her. She sung very loud indeed that the guys went out of their rooms and look at what the commotion is all about.

After singing, Hana went in immediately. We all laughed and recalled the blank faces that the HSJ guys were wearing as they watch her sing.

I was very happy, assuming that they already forgot about me.

Hana said, “Sawako’s not yet done with our game!”

So they all remembered after all.

Hana asked me, “Truth or dare?”

I thought very deeply on what to choose. I think that choosing truth would be better.

Hana asked me, “Have you hug a guy except for your father? Who was it?”

As I recall, the only guy that did that to me was Nakajima Yuto.

Taking a deep breath, I reluctantly said, “Alright, it was Nakajima….”

They all squealed again. I reasoned out, “But you know, it was not the romantic type you’ve all been expecting.”

Risako-senpai grinned and said, “Liar. Hahahahaha.”

Then, the make-up set attracted Hana’s attention. Much to our surprise, the room also had a closet, from Lolita fashion, cosplay, formal, and fashionable clothes were all there.

Hana and Mika became all hyper seeing the mass amounts of clothes and make-up. So is Risako-senpai. Saki and I were just staring the pretty things, scared to touch it.

The three of them did what they loved to do. They tried on many clothes and took pictures. In the end, we were all exhausted and changed back to our sleepwear.

I was really feeling very sleepy and I rolled myself on my bed. Hana and Mika decided to prepare some desserts. Risako-senpai and Saki decided to read some fashion magazines.

The last thing I remember was sleeping, but then the loud volume of the television awaken me. I checked out the time. It was already 1 AM and they were still awake.

I looked at the television and saw Yuto first. He was dancing and singing along with the other familiar faces of his friends. Maybe, these are all they Hey Say Jump.

I went to Mika and asked her, “Hey Mika, what’s that?”

She told me, “This is the DVD of Hey! Say! Jump’s concert last year at the Tokyo Dome.”

There were so many people watching their show. I was surprised because I didn’t know that they had these many fans.

I asked Mika, “I thought they were only a group within the school?”

She answered me, “Yes they are, but they got super famous, like the level of a celebrity. Once a year, when they’re complete, they hold a concert and donate it to the charity. They really don’t need the money since all of them are already rich.”

The bad image they had on me seemed to lessen. They do something good and beneficial to those who had less after all…

And I’ve got to admit, they have great talent that everyone can boast of. They’re just like professionals.

Going back to my own self, I asked them, “Hey, why are you watching that?”

Saki said, “We were curious, and it was lying on the ground, so we decided to watch it.”

While standing up to stretch, Mika said, “Hana, your birthday would be next week already ne?

Hana nodded and said, “And Yuri would be my escort. You know, it’s still very awkward between us.”

Risako-senpai suggested, “I guess the two of you need to talk.”

Mika added, “And you need to confirm if you love him back the same way as he does to you.”

Hana just remained silent and looked as though she is in her deepest thoughts.

After all the secrets sharing, music jamming, singing, and all of the other crazy things we’ve done, we all slept. We were all on low battery.

I woke up first among all of us. I brushed my teeth first and decided to go out of the room to have a morning walk.

As I was walking along the streets, I saw a guy looking at me. He was hiding under the tree. I felt a little freaky and didn’t bother to give attention to him. He patted my shoulder and realized that he was just a normal guy.

He asked me, “Excuse me, do you live in that mansion? My ball flew inside and I need your help to get it.”

I smiled and said, “Okay, it’s no big deal.”

I went inside the mansion gates and saw the ball immediately. Fortunately, it didn’t roll on the farther part of the house.

I handed him the ball and thanked me. He smiled and introduced himself.

“I am Yoshida Sho.”

I bowed to him and realized that I am not wearing my disguise. I decided to introduce myself as ‘Sawa’ instead of ‘Sawako’.

He smiled and said, “Hajimemashite Sawa-san.”

Yoshida Sho walked away with his ball in hand. I also went inside the mansion.

I walked going to the room where we had our sleepover and Saki was the only one sleeping. I laughed to myself knowing that Saki is bad at waking up.

Mrs. Nakajima opened our door and asked, “Had a goodnight sleep, girls?”

We all smiled and nodded at Mrs. Nakajima.

By the way, that bottle in your room last night is a secret recording device. It recorded all your conversations.

We all panicked and looked for the bottle. Mrs. Nakajima laughed and said, “I secured it while you’re sleeping. It’s too late now girls. I’m also leaving now. My flight will be in one hour. Adieu!”

Mrs. Nakajima suddenly vanished. Mika said, “I should have thought of that! Mrs. Nakajima is a mischievous woman.”

We all put our heads down in embarrassment.

We walked towards the kitchen to have breakfast. The guys seemed very down too.

Mika asked, “She did the same to you?”

Yuto said, “Unfortunately, she did.”

We were all victimized by Mrs. Nakajima.

We all ate breakfast with mixed emotions. I myself do not know what exactly to feel right now. Mrs. Nakajima knows all of our secrets. It’s so embarrassing.

In the middle of our silent and awkward breakfast, Mika’s phone rang.

She stood up and excused herself from the table.

After a few minutes, she came back to us, running.

“SiWan onii-san is outside!”

I thought, “Who is SiWan?”

Chapter 14

Mrs. Nakajima and the Sleepover

Yuto went out for a while. He said he was going to buy Nikuman.

Hana gave invitations to Risako and Saki. She said, “I like the two of you! Please go to my birthday party! Sawako will be there too!”

Risako and Saki were thrilled. They said that they would attend.

I can’t believe how the four of them got along pretty quick. Indeed, it is true that the birds of the same feather flock together.

Risako asked Saki who she’s e-mailing with.

Saki said…

“Arioka Daiki…”

We were like, “What?!”

Risako was in her fast-paced talking robot mode and asked, “When did that happen?! How did he get your number?! Did he treat you badly?!...”

While slightly laughing, I told her, “Relax Risako. Let’s hear the story first.”

Risako said, “Okay. I’ll relax for now.”

Hana was laughing hard and said, “You’ll get high blood pressure if you’re always like that, senpai!”

Mika and Saki just giggled. Saki said, “Okay, I will now narrate the story…”

“During the day that Nakajima-san brought Daiki-kun in here, I realized that he is the online friend I’ve been chatting with all along. We play this online RRG game and we decided to see each other in a social networking site.

“When he asked me about my personal life, I didn’t answer him and he respected my decision, but he said that we would meet when the right time comes.

“We saw pictures of each other but I didn’t expect him to be a member of Hey Say Jump.

Then the day came. The two of us met. He asked for my number and asked if we could be personal friends. He seems nice and he seems have no bad intentions, so I agreed. Right now, we are always mailing each other…”

Mika and Hana were like bitten by a love bug. I was blank for a moment. Risako’s look was like that of a concerned mother. She said, “If something bad happens, just tell me okay?”

Reassuring us with a smile, Saki said, “Daiki-kun is nice. I think he won’t do something bad.”

Mika told us that Daiki is a nice person and a gentleman. We don’t need to worry about him.

Then, Yuto arrived bringing a paper bag. He said, “The nikumans are here!”

We then sat down on the table and got our nikuman buns. It was hot and it smelled very good.

Together, we said, “Itadakimasu!”

It tasted really delicious. We enjoyed Yuto’s treat to all of us. He wasn’t really that bad after all…

After we finished our nikuman, Yuto dragged me along and said, “We’re going home now! Bye bye!”

Risako, with a loud voice declared, “Hey! They told us about the house check! Don’t pretend we forgot about it!”

With a silly smile, Yuto said, “Kekeke, I’m sorry, I forgot about it.”

Without further delay, we all went inside Yuto’s car. He started the engine and started to drive. He turned on the radio. The song, “Ai-ing Aishiteru,” played. Mika said, “Oh, Yuto-kun, isn’t that your song? Even if you’re group is only for the school, your song got popular in the whole country! Congratulations!”

Yuto smiled and replied, “Thank you Mika! Now Hayashi, did you finally realize how angelic my voice can be?”

I just rolled my eyes at him. I admit that it was a good song and I recognized his voice. I just lied said to him, “Tell me, how I can recognize your voice? There are so many of you singing.”

Looking quite disappointed, Yuto said, “Eh? You don’t recognize my voice? How mean of you! I am the one singing the lines, “Mirai made… Aishiteru!”

I pouted my lips and said, “Okay fine! You have a nice voice.”

He just laughed at me and said, “Now you know about my beautiful voice…”

One adjective: He is a narcissist.

Hana said, “Keito-kun is in abroad right now ne? Did he record there?”

Yuto replied, “Yup. It was just sent to our mixer.”

Risako and Saki altogether said, “Sugoi.”

Hana added, “Daiki-kun and Yabu-kun were also singers in that song…”

Risako exclaimed, “That womanizer freak? Ha-ha. He has a nice voice, but still, he is a womanizer.”

After a how many minutes, we arrived at the Nakajima Mansion.

Much to my surprise, it was very bright. The mansion looked more beautiful than it already is. All the decoration lights were on.

Yuto exclaimed, “This could only mean one thing. My mother is home.”

We were all like, “Eeeeehhhh??!!”

I panicked and said, “Nakajima, maybe I could stay in another person’s house for now! I will just leave and get my things tomorrow okay?”

Yuto replied, “Don’t worry. My mother knows all about you. Indeed, she wants to see you already.”

As what I saw in the pictures, Mrs. Nakajima was a really pretty woman. Yuto got most of his facial features from her. I guess she was very good friends with my mother.

Mika added, “Oh, Sawako. You better remove your disguises. She’ll force you to use many facial care products that you don’t really need. Yuto’s mother is so concerned with a girl’s appearance.

Yuto giggled and said, “When she saw Mika having many pimples, she gave her many anti-pimple product and kept talking about how to avoid pimples.”

Hana laughed very hard. She said, “That happened during a concert of a great pianist. Mika and the other JUMP families went there. It so happened that we encountered Mrs. Nakajima at the ladies comfort room.”

Then, we went out of the car. The colored fountains were on. I was mesmerized by its beauty.

When we entered the room, a woman wearing very beautiful clothes welcomed us.

“Welcome my dear son and friends!”

She was really so beautiful. I’m not exaggerating, but she really is very beautiful.

Mrs. Nakajima went to Yuto and hugged her. She said, “It’s been a long time, Yuto.”

After hugging her son, she turned to us and said, “Girls, we are having a sleepover party today! It is Friday and it’s the perfect day for parties like this! And Sawako, you look like your mother so much.”

I just smiled at her and noticed the melancholic tone of her voice. Maybe she missed my mother already. I didn’t ask her about additional information about my mother. As to where she is now, I hope she’s happy.

We just stood there blank-faced. It was just a simple plan to have a house check, but now, we end up having a sleepover party.”

Mrs. Nakajima said, “Of course, I would leave you young girls your privacy. I just set up a big room for all of you to enjoy…”

Saki asked, “How about our parents?”

Mrs. Nakajima replied, “I told them two hours earlier, and its okay for them.”

I was amazed of how she predicted that there will be five of us who are coming today. Well, the Nakajima family is powerful and has their connections…”

She led us blissfully into a room. She opened the doors and….

WOW. It was so amazing. It had a big plasma screen TV with many DVDs, many make-ups and beauty products, five beautiful and big beds, a popcorn maker, and many foods.

The place was full of balloons and it was very girly. Five cute sleep wears were waiting for us.

Mrs. Nakajima told us to enjoy the rest of the night and said that the room is soundproof. We can scream all we want during the duration of the party.

We went to the sleep wears. I was attracted to the heart patterned one. I immediately got it and went to take an afternoon bath.

After we all took a bath and changed to our sleep wears, we all went down to have dinner with Nakajima and his mom.

Much to our surprise, the JUMP guys were also there. They were dressed in their pajamas. Mrs. Nakajima had food ordered because she said that she wasn’t really a good cook.

Yabu said, “Hey! We meet again baby!”

Risako just rolled her eyes and said, “BEHAVE.”

Daiki simply greeted Saki and Saki did the same. Chinen Kaichou, Yamada, and Ryutaro were the other members who were there. Mrs. Nakajima set another room for them.

We all ate our fast food dinner and was really noisy. Mrs. Nakajima didn’t really mind. She finished ahead of us and told us that she’ll already be sleeping upstairs.

After we ate, we fixed all of our mess. The guys went to their room and we went to ours.

When we reached our room, I was still amazed of how beautiful it is. I was wondering how Mrs. Nakajima did this all by herself.

The patterns of our sleep wears were different too. I had the heart one, Saki had the flowery one, Risako-senpai’s was full of butterflies, Mika had the one with stars and Hana had the clovers.

We all decided to watch a movie. Because there were different titles that we chose, we decided to do it by draw.

Unfortunately, the one that Risako-senpai chose was the one selected: A horror movie.

Chapter 13

The Meeting of the Horikoshi Girls and the Kirari Haato Maids

The birthday will be next week.

Mika asked Hana, “By the way Hana, do you like Kaichou?”

Hana sighed and answered, “I don’t know now, Mika.”

I can kind of relate to Hana. She’s confused of her feelings. It’s the same with my case with Nakajima.

In the middle of the silence, Mika said, “Follow your heart…Hana.”

I placed the invitation inside my bag. I felt happy because it’s my first time to be invited in such a great party. But then, I have nothing to wear, that’s why I can’t go.

I told Hana, “Sorry Hana, I can’t go to your birthday party.”

Hana pouted and asked, “Why?”

Holding my bag tighter, I told her, “I have nothing to wear.”

Mika lightly punched my shoulders and said, “That shouldn’t be a problem! If clothes are what you’re looking for, I’m here to the rescue!”

I was feeling very happy and at the same time, very guilty. I’m not being true to them. I’m keeping secrets. I was pretending as another person.

Finally, I decided to tell them my secret and show them my real face without my disguises.

While we were talking, I finally told them, “Mika-chan, Hana-chan, do you have a moment?”

They said, “Sure.”

I pulled them going to somewhere where there are no people. I faced them with a very serious aura. I told them, “Mika-chan, Hana-chan, I just want to thank you for being a very good friend to me. You know, before in my school, no one really befriended me. I totally appreciate the two of you.”

Mika smiled and asked me, “Of course Sawako. We like you so much!”

I replied to her, “But there is a reason that you should hate me.”

Folding her arms, Hana asked me, “What? What is that?”

I started to remove my disguises and told them, “I pretended. I wear disguises to hide my real self. I work at a maid café and take the name ‘Sawa-chan’. This is how I really look like…”

Their mouths opened in shock. Hana told me, “Oh my. These are totally realistic prosthetics! I was fooled! Where did you buy them?”

Mika said, “If you were this good-looking, we could hire you in the magazine company we’re working at!”

I was surprised by their reactions. I expected them to be angry at me. I asked, “You’re not angry at me?”

Mika replied, “Why would we be angry at you? We understand that you have an explanation. We’ll listen.”

I took a deep breath and started to narrate everything to them…

“You know, my father is in abroad right now. I currently don’t have any family members in Japan, so practically; I’m living in another house. We’re not really rich, so I work part time in a maid café. I am also able to attend this school because of the scholarship. I also don’t want to burden my father with the living expenses and the extra stuffs I need.

"The reason that I wear these things on my face each day is because I don’t want people to recognize me as a maid. I want to keep it a secret from everybody. Also, I did all of these because of what a certain boy did to me in the past.”

Hana and Mika gave me a hug. They told me, “Sawako, we are sorry for not knowing your burdens since before. We totally admire you for your hard work.”

I smiled at them and said, “That’s really okay. Befriending me is really a great thing already. As a payback, I’ll bring you to my workplace later.”

Hana was very happy and said, “I’ll eat many foods!”

I wore my disguises again and went back to our classroom. I was feeling very relieved. At least I removed some of the burdens on my back. It’s happy to know that there are people you can trust. Now I just have to break the news to Risako and Saki.

We walked to our classroom and stayed there. The Hey Say Jump guys were very noisy. They were talking about some guy stuff. I didn’t even bother to listen to them.

When they were done, Yuto sat on his seat beside me and asked, “Hey, they’re planning to go to the maid café. They’ll bring the others too.”

I panicked easily and imagined the biggest disaster that is about to happen on Earth.

I whispered to him, “I’m bringing Mika and Hana with me. I already told them about my disguise, but not my living conditions.”

Yuto suddenly stood up, went to Hana and Mika , whispered them something, and the three of them went out. What was he thinking? Mika and Hana didn’t know that Yuto knew all about my real self!

I suddenly ran going outside. They were discussing stuffs.

As I arrived, Hana asked, “How come this guy knows?!”

Totally cornered, I told her…

“I-I-I live in his house…”

Hana went berserk. Mika was hysterical. In her panic mode, she asked me, “Oh my gosh, did this stupid boy do something to you? Do you live with an elder? Do you still eat three times a day? Tell me if you have a problem and I’ll kick this bamboo to death!”

Reassuring her with a smile, I told her, “Relax Mika. Everything is fine…”

Yuto pouted his lips and said, “I’m not the bad dragon that you are imagining. I’m very nice, good and a gentleman!”

I rolled my eyes at him. I told Hana and Mika, I will explain everything to you in the café with my two friends, Risako and Saki.”

Yuto told me, “You’ll finally tell them?”

I replied, “I have no choice. If I’m spoiling my secret now, it’s all thanks to you.”

Still in his pathetic pout, he told me, “But that’s a good thing right? You’ll finally have someone to lean on aside from me.”

I was totally disgusted by his sentence. I pretended not to hear it.

Mika said, “Now, we have to make a plan to avoid spilling Sawako’s secret to the rest of the Jump.”

“We need to let Sawako, Hana, and I arrive at the café first. Yuto, you’ll pretend not to know that we’re going to be there. We will eat for a while and pretend to go home. The truth is, Hana and I will go to the back of the café as Sawako will explain everything to us. If the Hey Say Jump will stay for a longer time, we’ll pretend to be maids. We’ll serve the customers. As the café will close, we will all talk and go to Yuto’s house for checking.”

I was speecless. Hana was clapping her hands. Yuto’s face twitched as he asked, “How about my privacy?!”

Hana said, “Well, you have no choice. We have to make sure that our friend is safe in your hands. Besides, I heard that your dad and your brother are abroad. We have to be sure that you are not acting naughty, Yuto-kun. Even though we knew you since childhood, you’re still a boy.”

Yuto smirked and said, “Okay! You’ll see how good I truly am.”

After the discussion, we went back inside the classroom.

Hours passed…

Dissmissal time arrived.

As what we’ve planned, Hana, Mika and I went immediately to the maid café.

We went to the back of the café. I removed my disguises and wore my maid outfit. Risako and Saki were there. I told them, “Risako, Saki, these are my friends, Hana and Mika. I brought them here so that you can meet them, and well, I have to discuss some things with the four of you, well I mean five.

Saki was frozen. Risako was trying to comprehend what I said.

“You’ll understand later…”

The plan was on the move. Hana and Mika were sitting and ordered something.

True enough to what Yuto said, the Hey Say JUMP namely Yabu Kota, Ryutaro Morimoto, Naruto, Ran, Arioka Daiki, and Nakajima Yuto himself arrived at the café.

They saw Hana and Mika and were surprised. All of them sat on one table.

Risako welcomed them and got their orders. Yabu annoyed her again by saying, “Hey baby, we meet again.”

I’m pretty sure that Risako’s head was boiling in anger, but she was really good in controlling it. She continued to get the orders. Yuto and Chinen-kaichou, who was in her girl form today, designated me again to serve him. I’m noticed that Hana was really shocked, and maybe happy about it, but she remained silent. I’m sure that it was because of the president’s confession. They were seated very far from each other. Arioka and Yamada, who was not in his usual Naruto costume, did the same to Saki.

As soon as their orders arrived, they ate it and enjoyed. Kaichou stared at me for a while and whispered something to Yuto. I have no clue as of what he said.

Morimoto did not designate anyone. He just enjoyed the vanilla cake he ordered. His cell phone suddenly rang so he went outside.

He went inside again and pulled Mika going outside.

Yabu was in his usual happy mood. Kaichou and Hana were quiet. Yamada was enjoying the time with Yabu. Daiki was in his quiet mode while sipping his cappuccino and listening to music.

After a few minutes, Mika and Morimoto went inside again. Mika was looking very happy. I wonder if something happened…

I looked at the time. It was already quite late. The JUMP members stood up and left. Morimoto was looking quite lonely, Chinen looks like very deep in his thoughts, Yamada was laughing, and the reason of Yamada’s laughter, Yabu, said in a loud voice, “Till next time Risa-chan, my baby!”

Risako looked very disgusted. Saki was busy with her cell phone. I noticed that she was like that since this day.

Then the six of us went to the back of the café and did the things according to the plan. Risako let the other maids take over the place.

We sat down on the chairs. Risako asked, “What’s wrong Sawako? What was the thing you were trying to tell us?”

Very nervous, I told them, “Wait, I need to breathe first.”

As soon as I was done inhaling and exhaling, they remained silent, waiting for me to say something…

“A-a-a-actually, I live in Nakajima Yuto’s house…”

Saki’s mouth went open. Risako’s eyes went round and big. She exclaimed, “Oh my gosh Sawako, how old are you? Seventeen? And you’ve given up your…aaah! I can’t continue to say it! And since when did you have a relationship with this guy over here?!”

While laughing, Yuto said, “Things like that did not happen! You’re too advanced!”

I added, “There is no way that could happen. I would not simply give ‘it’, especially to this man!”

In her hysterical mode, Risako demanded, “Can you please give me a valid explanation of this madness?!”

I started to narrate to them the cause as to why I am living in Yuto Nakajima’s house right now…

“Well, my father and Nakajima’s father are best friends. When I decided to stay in Japan and live alone, my father was worried about me. He left me under the care of Nakajima’s father, Jirou-oji. Raiya-san was with us in the beginning too.

When Nakajima’s mother called, Jirou oji and Raiya flew going abroad. Well, it happened very fast. It was unexpected.”

As soon as I finished narrating, Risako said, “I guess the situation is under control. If something bad happens to Sawako, better run for your life Nakajima Yuto!”

Yuto replied, “Aye aye captain!”

I can see Hana and Saki getting along well. They were already laughing and sharing stories. Mika and Risako joined them.

Yuto went out for a while. He said he was going to buy Nikuman.

Hana gave invitations to Risako and Saki. She said, “I like the two of you! Please go to my birthday party! Sawako will be there too!”

Risako and Saki were thrilled. They said that they would attend.

I can’t believe how the four of them got along pretty quick. Indeed, it is true that the birds of the same feather flock together.

Risako asked Saki who she’s e-mailing with.

Chapter 12

The Invitation

“We’re old friends!” Arioka exclaimed.

With a confused face, Saki asked, “What do you mean?”

Yabu said, “These two guys have been keeping this place as a secret to us for two years already. How mean of them.”

“Now, remove your wigs.”

Much to my surprise, Naruto was actually Yamada Ryosuke and Ran was Chinen Yuri…

Their heads were bowed down. Chinen-kaichou said, “We’ve been found out by these three…” Yamada looked quite sad.

Yamada looked up to me and asked, “Sawa-chan, are you our classmate, Hayashi Sawako? You look a bit like her.”

I was left blank for seconds. I don’t know what to say, or what to do.

Yuto suddenly said, “No. She’s not Hayashi.”

Sipping the remains of his chocolate shake, Chinen said, “Yes, there’s no way they can be the same person.”

Yamada added, “Well, if you say so…”

I was relieved. He saved me this time.

With both her hands on her hips, Risako asked them, “So, would you still come here with those costumes?”

Yabu-san laughed and said, “Well my baby, I’ll try to tell these little boys not to.”

Raising an eyebrow, Risako stepped on Yabu-san’s foot and said, “Don’t you ever call me baby again!”

We just laughed at them. Arioka remained quiet. Yuto noticed it and said, “Daiki, you seem very quiet…Is there anything wrong?”

Arioka widely grinned and assured, “Nothing really. I was just thinking about some things.”

I swear I caught him looking at Saki for many times today. Well, maybe I’m just mistaken. Maybe I’m imagining things.

It was already closing time. The JUMP members went outside while Saki, Risako and I fixed the place.

I told Risako, “Yabu-san seems to have a liking on you!”

Rolling her eyes, Risako said, “Boys are always boys. He’s a flirty one. I know he’s just playing around.”

Saki added, “Yes, they’re so unpredictable. Their action usually does speak of lies.”

I was blank. I suddenly remembered everything that has happened between Nakajima and me.

It seems that Risako noticed it. She said, “Why did you get so quiet suddenly? Did something happen?”

I said to them, “I just want to ask you the reason that guys hugs girls…”

Saki answered, “Oh my Sawako, I know! Nakajima-kun hugged you!”

My eyes widened as I said, “Keep your voice down low! Shh… Someone might hear us!”

Risako shook my shoulders and excitingly asked, “So he hugged you already! I’m so excited for the two of you!”

I told them to lower their voices even just a little bit. Much to my dismay, they started to tease me to Nakajima Yuto.

Saki said, “Maybe he’s still outside, waiting for you!”

I rolled my eyes and said, “That’s impossible.”

Soon after we fixed the café, I changed into my uniform again and wore my disguises. I went out of the café with Risako and Saki.

Much to my surprise, what Saki said was right. He was still there.

I asked him, “Hey, what are you doing here?”

He said, “I’m waiting for you. It’s not safe for girls to go home at this very late hour.”

Risako and Saki giggled for a while and said together, “We’re going now, ufufufufufufu.”

I looked at him and said, “Hey, what the heck are you doing?”

He remained silent and continued to walk behind me. He didn’t bring his car this time too.

It was an awkward, silent moment between us. When we reached home, we ate dinner and went to our respective rooms.

He did not say a word to me. Not even a single word.

As soon as I went up the stairs, I didn’t notice that he was there. He pulled the collar of my shirt and drew me nearer.

I swear, I cannot breathe. He was looking to my eyes intensively. I want to move out of that position but I cannot move. My body is frozen from head to foot. In a cold voice, he told me, “Please allow me to hold your hand you for a moment.”

Then he held them.

I did not retaliate, and I don’t know the exact reason why. I can feel the shiver down my spine and my heart is beating very fast. I think he heard it. It was throbbing like mad.

After that, he released my hands. He walked away immediately.

I went directly to my room. My mind is not functioning properly. Because of that, I bumped my head on the door.

Lying in my bed, I was thinking deeper on the things that were happening. It was really confusing and complicated. I know that he is not interested in me, but why do I feel this way? It’s like; I always know whether he’s around or not. I am very much aware of his existence. My heart beats fast whenever he does odd things to me.

I wish that this is not love. I don’t want to love anymore. It’s a scary thing. It’s a feeling that I do not want to feel anymore.

But what is love anyway? I really don’t understand…

I know now, he’s just playing with me…

The next day, I went to school early. Hana and Mika were in one of the school’s benches.

I was surprised because Hana is not her usual self today.

As soon as she saw me, she ran towards me and exclaimed, “Saawaakoo!”

She hugged me as Mika approached us. I asked her, “What is wrong with this girl?”

“Lovestruck or maybe, she’s confused?” Mika said.

I was puzzled and asked, “What do you mean?”

Slowly, Mika told me, “Chinen kaichou confessed to her.”

I was so shocked by the sudden news. My eyes grew round. Mika told me, “Let’s continue to talk in the bench.”

As soon as we arrived, Mika told me, “I don’t know the full story myself. Hana was just about to narrate it to me.”

Hana finally said, “Okay, I will say it to you now…

Hana’s Narration:

It all happened last night. My parents invited Chinen to our house for dinner. I was happy of course, because I have my human doll to dress up.

Then, we had dinner. It was really a normal one. My parents invited Chinen to my birthday. It’s next week already. Chinen will be my escort, as what my parents decided.

Then after that, I invited Chinen to my closet. I said to him, “Chii-chan! For today, I will dress you up in cosplay!”

I dressed him up in all the cute cosplay clothes I have like Cardcaptor Sakura, Chii from Chobits, and all the frilly frilly clothes you can think of.

Suddenly, he put down all the clothes and wore his normal ones.

In a loud voice, he told me:

“You know what, Hana, I am so tired of this already! Please see me as a man sometimes. I am not a girl! Please, Hana…

It is because…

I love you.”

That was what he told me. I tried to laugh as I told him, “Chii-chan, don’t joke around!”

In a serious face, he told me, “No, I’m not joking.”

“Yes, you are.”

“No, I’m not!”

Then, he pulled my collar and drew his face nearer. The last thing I could remember is that his lips are touching mine.

I kept silent in the side and he walked going outside.

That was, my first kiss…

Mika patted her shoulder and told her, “That’s what you get for always playing with him!”

Hana whined and said, “This is not the right time to joke around Mika! By the way, your invitations are there.”

I saw two envelopes on the table. It was for Mika and I. It was invitations for Hana’s 17^th Birthday Party. I opened it and read the contents…

The birthday will be next week.

Mika asked Hana, “By the way Hana, do you like Kaichou?”

Hana sighed and answered, “I don’t know now, Mika.”

I can kind of relate to Hana. She’s confused of her feelings. It’s the same with my case with Nakajima.

In the middle of the silence, Mika said, “Follow your heart…Hana.”

Chapter 11

Sand Castles of Yesterday

After that, I immediately ran outside. Yuto was at the coffee table.

I told him, “I’m not leaving, Nakajima.”

I don’t know what had gotten into his mind. He stood up and hugged me.

My heart was throbbing fast. I don’t know what the exact reason was. His long arms were all around me.

I heard him say the word, “Thank you, Sawako…Dai-”

“Dai…Dai…Daiki will be calling me any minute from now…”

He broke the hug and went away.

Why did he hug me in the first place?

Honestly, during that moment, I thought about the possibility that he’ll say ‘daisuki.’ How foolish I am…

It felt awkward, so I said to him, “Uhmm, Nakajima, I’m going in my room now…”

He just nodded in reply.

I lied down on my bed and thought about the thing that happened a while ago. In my seventeen years of living, it was my first time being hugged by a boy, except for my father of course.

Maybe he was just playing with me. Well, you’ll never know boys. They can be the most pretentious people on Earth.

I decided not to think about the thought already and tried forget about what happened. I made my homework and tried to sleep.

The next day…

I decided to leave the house very early. I don’t like the idea of Nakajima and I, going to school together. I wore my disguises and went to the kitchen. After drinking milk and eating two loaves of bread, I walked along the road and decided to stop by the nearby park because I still have lots of time.

I sat on the swing and started to read a book. Then, I saw two kids playing on a sandbox, one girl and one boy. They were making a sand castle.

The boy said, “Ne, when I grow up, I will live in a castle like this and make you my queen!”

The girl replied, “Sugoi! I always wanted to live in a big castle!”

How innocent kids are. They are just carefree and they don’t really have to think about serious and complicated things.

I thought if Nakajima and I were also like that before. I wonder if we were just like our innocent selves. I wonder if we never really thought about complicated stuff.

Suddenly, the top of the sand castle got destroyed. The girl exclaimed, “Our castle is ruined! What are we going to do now?”

The boy tried to fix it, but he failed. The girl stood up and came to me. She asked, “Onee-chan, can you help us fix this part?”

I stood up and went to the sandbox. I said, “I’ll try.”

I held the sand and formed the upper part, but it still keeps on deforming. The three of us helped each other, but we were still unsuccessful.

Then someone went near us and started to form the sand castle. He had smooth big hands. He formed the sand castle without any difficulties at all. Of course, he was Nakajima.

The two kids were really happy and said, “Arigato Onii-chan, Onee-chan!”

Yuto dusted of his hands and smiled at the kids. The girl asked, “Onii-chan, are you used to making sand castles?”

He replied, “Yes. We used to stay in this same playground and I’d make the sand castle alone. My friend really sucks at it, until now.”

The boy said, “Sugoi onii-chan! I wish I’ll be as good as you!”

Yuto patted the heads of both kids and said, “We’ll be going now. Ja-ne~”

As soon as we left the park, I asked him, “What are you doing here?!”

Putting his bag on his back, he said, “I decided to walk going to school today.”

Raising my eyebrows, I said, “Seriously? You’re not driving?”

Showing his crooked teeth, he leaned and whispered in a mischievous voice, “It’s just a walking distance, and don’t you want to walk with me?”

I shivered and exclaimed, “Don’t do that ever again! And excuse me, I can walk by myself!”

Grinning naughtily, he placed his arms on my shoulders. I reacted and tried to remove his arms. He resisted and drew me nearer. I loudly exclaimed, “What the heck are you doing?!”

He replied, “We’re childhood friends right? We used to make sand castles together, and you sucked a lot.”

I was right. I was the kid who he was referring to a while ago.

I said to him, “Are you really planning on getting me killed? I still want to live, for goodness sake!”

He finally removed his arms around me and said, “Okay, but you can’t escape when we’re inside the house.”

I suddenly felt a sudden chill. The way he said it was quite scary.

I walked ahead of him with my head more confused now. Is it okay with him to be walking with an ugly girl like me?

He was still behind me. I made sure that the distance between us is at least two meters.

My head is in confusion. His actions are totally weird. He suddenly hugged me, placed his arm on my back, and the other actions. Maybe it has no meaning. Maybe he wants to bring back our friendship during the past times which I can’t remember.

I arrived in school and went to change into my indoor shoes. I read a note that says.

“Sawako, look around. Be careful. Your knight in shining armor may not be with you.”

Of course, I know its Ren. The handwriting says it all. I don’t know what he is planning to do, but I’ll be more careful from now on. I wonder when I can be free from him.

I threw the paper on the garbage can.

I went inside the classroom and was greeted by Mika and Hana. Mika said, “Hey, we heard news!”

Hana looked at me maliciously and whispered, “I heard that you were about to leave abroad, but Yuto-kun is able to stop you…”

I was surprised that they knew about it. I defended myself and said, “He has nothing to do with it, I swear!”

Of course, all they did was to release evil smirks.

Then, Yuto arrived. He greeted us a good morning. Mika said, “He seems to be in a good mood.”

Placing her hands inside her pockets, Hana said, “Of course, he has an inspiration. Just make sure the two of you don’t get caught.”

I was like, how did they know about the news? I don’t even show any interest to Nakajima. I even look disgusted with his presence all the time.

In a very low voice, Mika asked me, “How about Yama-chan now? Are you going to treat him as trash?”

I replied, “Like what I said before, I am not interested in any of them.”

Mika looked around asked, “Hey Hana, have you seen Chinen Kaichou? He seems to be late.”

Smirking evilly, Hana replied, “The poor small guy. He became my Barbie doll.”

Mika said, “You did it again?! Poor Chinen-kun, he is always victimized by your tricks.”

Hana said to me, “Sawako, in case you don’t know, Chinen is one of my human Barbie dolls. I dress him up as anything I feel! Sometimes in a Cosplay clothing, in a Sailor Fuku, or most of the time, in a Lolita Dress!”

Mika added, “Yeah, he treats Chinen like his little sister, or perhaps, her doll.”

Grinning widely, Hana said, “I can’t help it! Chinen is so fluffy and cute! I wish he was a girl!”

The adjectives she used are like for a dog’s.

Arranging her bangs, Mika said, “They have been like that since middle school.”

Suddenly, Chinen kaichou arrived. He looked so tired and stressed. I’m sure it’s Hana’s doing.

Hana patted Chinen kaichou’s shoulders hardly and greeted, “Ohayou Lolita kaichou! Did you have a great rest?”

Chinen replied, “What do you think? It looks like Yuto and I are in really opposite status now. He’s full of energy this morning. He was inviting me to play basketball, but I lack rest because of you! Baka Hana!”

Hana clenched her fists and said, “Eh? Baka? Even if you have the energy to play, you are still incapable of doing it because you are so short!”

Mika pulled me to the side and said, “Just don’t mind them Sawako. It’s a normal thing for them.”

We went back to our proper seats. Yuto whispered to me, “I’ll visit the maid café later.”

I rolled my eyes and said, "Whatever."

Dismissal time came. I went directly to the maid café to work.

As soon as I arrived, Risako told me, “Saki told me that you’re staying here in Japan!”

Removing my disguises and getting my maid uniform, I said, “Yes, She called me a while ago, and I told her about it.”

After changing, Risako told me, “You know Sawako, there’s an annoying guy who has been here for about four hours already! It’s really freaky. He is looking at me flirtatiously! He was sticking his tongue out in a flirty manner and winking at me!

I peeked outside. There was a guy, who has light brown hair, sitting on one of the tables. He was sipping tea. He was thin and tall, yet good looking. The other maids were looking at him and they were in seventh heaven.

I looked closely at the face of the guy. He seems familiar. I asked Risako, “Have you seen him somewhere before?”

Risako replied, “I really have no idea.”

Then, Saki arrived. She was in a hurry and exclaimed, “Sorry, I’m late!”

She quickly wore her maid uniform and asked us what exactly we are talking about. We told her that it was about that freaky guy outside. She stopped for a while and exclaimed, “Wait! I saw that person somewhere! I think he’s one of Hey Say JUMP?”

Risako opened her laptop and looked at the Hey Say JUMP page. Indeed, Saki was right. The guy outside was the Leader of Hey Say JUMP, Yabu Kota.

I suddenly thought, “How the heck did Hey Say JUMP find this little place?”

Yabu Kota designated Risako-san again so she went out. I started to arrange the food, while Saki was starting to clean.

Then, Naruto-kun and Ran-san arrived. Saki and I stopped with whatever we were doing. Saki greeted his regular master, Naruto. I did the same for my regular mistress, Ran.

Suddenly, the Yabu Kota guy transferred into their table. Yabu told Naruto, “You sure have nice yellow hair! Where did you have that colored?”

Naruto replied, “I-i-in a salon…”

Ran stood up and pulled Yabu away. Naruto was left the table.

I thought, “Do they know each other? Poor Naruto-kun, he must be jealous.”

Saki and I got their orders. When we went back, Naruto and Yabu still weren’t there. Ran-san just told us to leave the orders on their table.

After that, Nakajima arrived with Arioka. Why did he bring Arioka with him?!

Risako went with me in their table. Risako asked Arioka, “You are a new customer. Please choose the maid you want to serve you…”

Arioka paused for a while and looked at the list. After that, he finally said, “Saki-chan.”

Smiling widely, Risako said, “Okay, I’ll call Saki-chan now.”

Risako patted me with her elbow that signaled me to start talking to my goushoujin-sama, Nakajima. Even if it is against my will to be nice to him, I must force myself.

I said, “Goushoujin-sama, our special for today is pudding with royal milk tea. Would you like to order that? If not, please choose other food from the menu.”

Placing his chin on his palm, he said, “Can I have a Sawa-chan cookie?”

I heard Daiki chuckle. He said, “Yuto-kun, please answer her properly.”

Baka. If I weren’t inside the café, I would punch that stupid, narcissistic Nakajima to death.

Saki arrived in a very maid-like aura. She said, “Hello my new master. I’m Saki. I’m going to be the one who will serve you for today. What do you want to eat?”

Daiki’s face turned light red. He said, “Uhmm, I’d like to have the special...”

Yuto added, “Yes, I’d have that too.”

I said, “Two puddings with royal milk tea coming up. Please wait Goushoujin-samas.”

As soon as Saki and I were behind the counter to get their orders, I said to her, “Three Hey Say JUMP members are here. What the heck is happening?”

Saki replied, “Maybe it’s a coincidence.”

“Maybe…”

We delivered their orders after getting them. Much to my surprise, Yabu, Nakajima, Arioka, Naruto, and Ran were on one table.

Saki said, “Here’s your order Goushoujin-sama Arioka and Goushoujin-sama Nakajima.”

Yuto was smiling to me like an idiot. My head boiled.

Then Yabu said, “Can you tell Risako that I want to have the same food?”

Holding the tray, and stopping the urge to throw it on Nakajima’s annoying face, I said, “Of course. Please wait for a minute.”

Saki and I left. Saki said, “They really know each other, but how?”

I just told her, “We don’t know…”

It was almost closing time and the five of them were still there. Saki, Risako, and I were the only maids left. The three of us went to their table.

Risako said, “It’s nice to see our customers become new friends.”

Smiling an evil one, Yabu said, “We’re not actually new friends…”

“We’re old friends!” Arioka exclaimed.

With a confused face, Saki asked, “What do you mean?”

Yabu said, “These two guys have been keeping this place as a secret to us for two years already. How mean of them.”
